BMI Body Mass Index

What is BMI and how do you calculate BMI?
BMI stands for Body Mass Index. It is a measure of body fat as a function of height and weight. The BMI is a general indicator of longevity, overall health and well being.
A low BMI (less than 18.5) means you are underweight. You might be at risk of various sicknesses due to weak immune system. You need to talk to you doctor about strategies to safely gain weight.
A high BMI (25-29) means you are overweight. You are also at risk of various sicknesses. You should try to adjust your diet and introduce exercise in your regular routine.
A very high BMI (over 30) means you are actually obese. Obesity is a dangerous condition and you are at risk of a lot of life threatening diseases like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, gall bladder disease, and cancer. You should seriously consider changing your lifestyle for the better.
I just found out that my BMI is 22.15 which is within the normal range. It indicates low incidence of serious illness. It also indicates I am supposed to have a more desirable body proportion compared to higher or lower BMI people (I'm not so sure about that).
