Pacquiao's Secret Weapon

First of all, I would like to congratulate Manny Money Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto for an AMAZING match last night! They both deserve all the best in their future careers.

If you watch the Pacquiao vs. Cotto fight Philippine free TV, you can't do away with all the commercial breaks that they play in between rounds. And actually, most of the commercials also feature Pacquiao in them! By watching carefully, you will be able to see Pacquiao's secret weapon...

Here is Pacquiao's secret weapon. He uses Head and Shoulders Shampoo para "tanggal ang Cotto".

I don't think any other boxer would have this kind of mass appeal to be endorsing just about anything from milk, to beer, to hair products. Congratulations once again to The Most Famous Person in the World.

Now, how about going through some of that Manny Pacquiao Merchandise in Amazon? I heard the Pound-for-Pound shirt looks good...

The Curious Case of the Beaten Briton

Ricky HattonI wrote the following tidbits while watching the much delayed telecast of the Money Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton fight in GMA7:

  • Several months ago, we mentioned in this blog that Pacquiao's Next Target is Ricky Hatton. Today, we witnessed the Curious Case of the Beaten Briton. I mean, everybody knows that Hatton could lose to Pacquiao. What was very surprising was the manner to which he lost.
  • While his British supporters were seen on TV, holding bottles of beer as they watch the fight, it seemed that Hatton was the most drunk of them all. With the way he dropped to the canvass twice in round 1, and in the final seconds of round 2, you can't help but feel some sympathy to the Hatton camp.
  • Will this be the end of Ricky Hatton's impressive career? Will the Hitman from Manchester finally call it quits after fighting the best twice and losing on both? Only time will tell.
  • I heard from The Good Times show that Grace Lee actually made a hundred thousand peso bet (around $2,000) for Ricky Hatton. I can't wait to hear from them tomorrow morning. I'm sure it's gonna be so funny when Mo Twister and Mojo Jojo talks about it.

Update: Other suggested reading:

Tyson Documentary

Tyson DocumentaryHave you heard about the new Tyson Documentary? What is it all about? When will it be shown in theaters? Where can you get more information about it?

If you were already alive during the 80's, it's hard to miss Mike Tyson. He became famous for being the youngest boxer to win the IBF, WBA and WBC world heavyweight titles. He became the scary "baddest man on the planet" who had a reputation to knock his opponents out in the first round (See The 11 Most Painfully-Awesome Mike Tyson “Punch-outs). I also recall his character was the biggest "boss" in the Nintendo video game "Punch Out" which I played when I was a kid.

He was always in the news, as his life was marred with controversy both inside the boxing ring and out. He was allegedly a violent husband. He was convicted and sentenced to jail for rape. After that, he went all berserk on Holyfield and bit his ears during a championship boxing match. He went from hero to zero as quickly as his first round knockout matches.

Going back to the Tyson Documentary,
It is about the life of Mike Tyson starting from his childhood to his glory days in boxing, to his eventual undoing, to what he is right now. Most of the views shared in the movie were from Mike Tyson himself.

Rottentomatoes.com calls it a "fascinating, emotional, and frank confessional from Iron Mike that sheds a sympathetic light on one of boxing's most controversial icons." I also heard it garnered standing ovations during the Cannes Film Festival screening. I would like to watch it one of these days. It's not as easy to get a copy of the Tyson Documentary here in the Philippines though.

Money Pacquiao

Who is Money Pacquiao? Why is Money Pacquiao making news today? Where did the name "Money Pacquiao" come from?

Money PacquiaoMoney Pacquiao

The public has been recently bombarded with news about Money Pacquiao. No, the news development was not about Money Pacquiao's upcoming title fight with Ricky Hatton. It was actually about Money Pacquiao, his contract issues and his future political plans. It was also another chapter in a war between two rival media networks, with Manny Money Pacquiao being caught in the crossfire.

My wife and I had a long discussion about this matter last week. I told her that the truth would come out and that Money Pacquiao will be the ultimate victim of circumstance, while other people take advantage of him with their own agenda. Or not... do you agree? Read the news and formulate your own opinion on the matter. Even though Money Pacquiao is the most famous person in the world, I don't think people should expect too much from him besides boxing.

Pacman raps ABS-CBN anew - Inquirer Sports
Pacquiao hurting from ABS-CBN incident - Manila Bulletin
Pacman 'sweet-talked' to TV deal - Philstar.com
Manny ‘hurting’ over Solar incident, says lawyer - ABS CBN News

By the way, where did the term "Money Pacquiao" come from? Apparently, when Money Pacquiao started winning major title bouts years ago, that was when celebrities, politicians and other influential people started betting on him and watching his fights live abroad. While most people were shouting "Manny! Manny!" when Pacquiao was winning, they were shouting "Money! Money!" because they were thinking of their winning bets.

Feel free to comment below. I would like to hear your own opinion on the matter.

Manny Pacquiao Merchandise in Amazon

Shop online for Manny Pacquiao Merchandise in Amazon. Here are some of the products available.

Manny Pacquiao's rise to stardom was not easy. He worked hard and listened to his trainer as he improved with every fight. So it is such foolishness to think that this or that Filipino boxer can be "the next Manny Pacquiao". There is only one Manny Pacquiao.

Pacquiao's Next Target is Ricky Hatton

Manny Pacquiao's camp is already talking with Ricky Hatton's camp to setup his next match after the incredible win over ODLH last December 7.

start blogging pacquiao I agree with the post linked below that boxing should be more than just sporadic main events scattered throughout the year. I also think these boxers should always be ready to prove themselves to the world by fighting the best of their contemporaries.
