Amazon's Notebook Bestsellers

Netbooks are the smaller and cheaper alternative to laptops. They perform the most basic functions like surf the web and store pictures. They have enough power to perform 99% of what ordinary people do with their computers.

There was a time when netbooks were still sold under the "laptop" category. Now the netbook has its own subcategory separate from laptops. Amazon has actually sold more netbooks than laptops so far this year.

I just browsed through Amazon.com's bestselling laptops/netbooks and here's what I got:

1. ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10-Inch Netbook (1.66 GHz Intel Atom N280 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 10 GB Eee Storage, Bluetooth, XP Home, 9.5 Hour Battery Life) Black

2. ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10-Inch Netbook (1.66 GHz Intel Atom N280 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 10 GB Eee Storage, Bluetooth, XP Home, 9.5 Hour Battery Life) Blue

3. Acer Aspire One AOD150-1165 10.1-Inch Netbook - Sapphire Blue

4. ASUS Eee PC 1000HA 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel ATOM N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 10 GB Eee Storage, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Fine Ebony

5. Acer Aspire One AOA150-1126 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) White

6. Toshiba Satellite A305-S6908 15.4-Inch Laptop

7. Samsung NC10-14GB 10.2-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 6 Cell Battery, XP Home) Blue

8. ASUS Eee PC 900HA 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel ATOM N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, 10 GB Eee Storage, XP Home) Black

9. Acer Aspire One AOA150-1672 8.9-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Pink

10. Apple MacBook MB466LL/A 13.3-Inch Laptop (2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, Slot Loading SuperDrive)

With 8 out of 10 of the bestsellers in Amazon, the netbooks are apparently dominating the market. I will not be surprised to see this trend continue for a long time.

Personally, I am torn between buying an Apple Macbook and an Asus Eee PC 1000HA. Oh well. Better to make the decision later when I already have the money to spend...
